The money raised from the special auction at the end of FanimeCon 2011 went directly to the areas affected by the April earthquake; Yokota-san and his friends personally went and cooked hot food for the earthquake victims, to give them hope and warmth for the future.
Please see the update page for more details and pictures.

Mamoru Yokota will offer exclusive autographs on shikishi art boards in a special auction immediately following the FanimeCon 2011 Closing Ceremonies. Friends of Mr. Yokota, all famous anime professionals, created these items in hopes of raising money for their humanitarian aid project. Many regions destroyed by the March 2011 disasters in Japan are still without municipal water or electricity service. Mr. Yokota and his friends will buy food with the auction proceeds and bring hot meals to people in these damaged areas. Bring your wallets to Mr. Yokota’s special auction for the chance to own one of these unique pieces, and help anime creators support people in Japan.
Check out all the works being auctioned.

As previously announced, Yoshiki of X Japan is coming to FanimeCon!
He will be here only for a few hours, so please help us make the most of it. Yoshiki will host a combined Q&A Panel and Autograph Session in Video Main (Ballroom B in the San Jose Convention Center) on Saturday, May 28th, starting at 4:00 p.m.
Yoshiki will be happy to answer questions about his music, his businesses, his foundation, and his professional life in general. He would be happy to receive gifts as well. However, please respect Yoshiki’s personal life and personal space, and please keep the autograph line running smoothly:
- Please respect Yoshiki’s personal life and do not ask personal questions.
- Please refrain from touching Yoshiki and do not ask him for hugs, kisses, autographs on body parts, or other forms of touching.
- Autographs are limited to one item per person.
- Please only ask for autographs on durable items worth autographing. (For example, please do not ask Yoshiki to sign disposable napkins.)
- Please have your item out and ready before reaching the front of the line.
We hope everybody enjoys Yoshiki’s appearance at FanimeCon, and we hope Yoshiki will enjoy the event as well. See you there!

For family reasons, Hiroyuki Yamaga has had to cancel his appearance at FanimeCon 2011. Yamaga-san sends his regards to his fans and his regrets that he won’t be able to join us this year, and he is looking forward to being with us again next year. We wish the best for him and his family. Yamaga-san has been at FanimeCon every year since 1997 — 14 years straight! We’ll miss him greatly this year, and we’re looking forward to his return next year!
